Are our sessions confidential?
Yes, although there are a small number of situations in which the law would require me to report something you say in session. We will review all of these before we begin.
Do I have to be in Portland to work with you?
No, although you must be in the borders of the State of Oregon during our sessions. I’d love to work with clients from outside of the Portland metro area!
Do you do telehealth or in person?
At the moment, I only provide telehealth appointments (video or phone). In the future I hope to find an office space for in-person sessions.
What do you charge? Do you take insurance?
I charge $140 an hour for sessions. For clients who sign up for twice weekly sessions, I offer a 15% discount. I have a limited number of spots for people who cannot pay my full rate. I am not currently set up to take insurance. Read more.
Are you going to diagnose me?
It depends on your goals. Insurance companies require a diagnosis in order to reimburse for services. Since I work without insurance, I am not required to provide a diagnosis to see you. However, I am well trained in diagnosis & will review your concerns & life history with you to form a diagnostic impression. Diagnosis is an art & a science, and its value really depends on how you use it. There are also many limitations to our current diagnostic system. We can discuss what diagnosis means to you in your circumstances. Read more.
How long do I need to come to therapy?
That all depends on you and your goals. I’ll collaborate with you to make a treatment plan that will address the concerns that brought you to me. Read more.
Are you that guy from that band?
It depends. If you’re thinking of an obscure Portland band, the answer is probably yes— though there are a lot of people walking around who’ve stolen my look. If it’s a famous band, then definitely no. you should look at my other website: tedbryan.com
